My Journey

For most of my adult life, I’ve followed paths that didn’t always look conventional from the outside. I spent many years living in Vermont, building experience in business, marketing, and community work, and eventually earning my MBA.

Along the way I worked in several different fields, including nonprofit advocacy and even becoming a licensed life insurance producer.

Each chapter added a new layer of perspective about people, resilience, and the systems we all navigate.

Eventually life led me to the road.

Today I travel and live out of my vehicle, a 2019 Kia Sorento named Jewel, exploring different parts of the country and learning what life looks like when you step outside the traditional definition of home.

What began as a period of transition gradually turned into something more meaningful. The road has a way of teaching patience, adaptability, and self-reliance.

It also introduces you to people and stories you might never encounter otherwise.

Like many vehicle residents, my journey has included both freedom and challenges. Living this way requires constant problem solving - figuring out where to park, where to work, how to stay connected, and how to maintain balance while living a mobile life.

Those experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the realities people face when they live outside conventional housing.

Over time, I’ve become especially interested in the growing community of vehicle residents across the country.

Through my travels and professional experiences, including time connected with the National Vehicle Residency Collective, I’ve seen firsthand how diverse and often misunderstood this community can be. Many people living in vehicles are thoughtful, resourceful individuals navigating life in creative ways.

At heart, I’m someone who believes that stories matter. The road has given me many of them - some difficult, some inspiring, and many that reveal how resilient people can be when life takes unexpected turns.

I share my experiences here in the hope that they help others understand this lifestyle a little better, and maybe remind someone out there that they’re not traveling their road alone.
